Several national roads hit by recent floods

(KPL) Several national roads nationwide were badly damaged by recent floods, requiring hundred billions kip for repairing.
Luckily some roads have not been cut off and still survived to provide facility to road users as usual.
Now the Ministry of Public Works and Transport has advised all the provinces affected by the recent floods to maintain and repair roadworthy so as to ensure the roads can communicate as normal.
This is according to Minister of Public Works and Transport, Sommad Pholsena’s report on 25 August, at a press conference in Vientiane Capital.
Many national roads were worse damaged due to a prolonged rainfall for days. As a result many national roads countrywide have been inundated.
The roads No 13, 9 and 18 B were worst damaged and consequent landslide, road slide, road cut off, broken drainage system and damaged bridges.
The northern provinces affected by the recent floods include Phongsaly, Luang Namtha, Oudomsay, Bokeo, Houaphanh, Xiengkhouang, Sayaboury and Luang Prabang.
His report identified that Road No 13 North and many roads in Luang Prabang province have been badly damaged. Next was Road No 7, especially Phou Khoune junction, Road No 1 C (Pakmong-Houaphanh) and No 4B (Xiengmae-Sayaboury).
Some roads in northern provinces have been cut off and considerably damaged, leaving billions of kip in costs.
There are many roads in Vientiane province also affected by floods. The badly damaged ones include Road No 13 North, No 10, 5A, 5B and 11, and Road No 18 B in the southern Attopeu province access to Vietnam border.
This is an unofficial report of Minister Sommad disclosed at the meeting. Survey is under way to explore the damage in other province.
Now the communication countrywide seems uncomfortable, particularly Road No 13 North.
