11th anniversary of Laos’s ASEAN membership marked in Vientiane
(KPL) Dr. Thongloun Sisoulith, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, organised a reception at Vientiane’s Lao Plaza Hotel on 11 August to mark the 41st founding anniversary of ASEAN and the 11th anniversary of Laos’s full ASEAN membership.
Attending the function were diplomats and staff of the ASEAN embassies in Laos.
Speaking at the function, Dr. Thongloun highlighted the achievements made by Laos in the past few years on political, security, and economic and co-operative developments.
He also talked about the benefits received by Laos in many sectors since Laos became the full members of this Association of Southeast Asian Nations in 1997. He said that all achievements has significantly contributed to elaborate the policy of the Lao government and to raise the role of Laos in the regional and international stages.
On this occasion, outdoor activities were also held including the reading message of ASEAN Secretary General by Minister of Foreign Affairs through radio and TV.
