Vietnam operates 125 investment projects in the capital

(KPL) The number of investment projects by Vietnamese businesses reaches 125 and is valued at over US$158 million, said Vientiane Mayor, Dr Sinlavong Khoudphaythoune.
Dr. Sinlavong said so while receiving Vietnamese Minister of Planning and Investment, Mr Vo Hong Phuc, on Tuesday.
Vientiane Mayor informed the visiting guest that investors from over 30 countries have invested in 88 projects in Vientiane so far this fiscal year with the investment of over US$ 140 million.
The 2007-2008 fiscal year’s gross-domestic-product (GDP) of Vientiane is valued at almost 12,000 billion kip, increased by 11.8 per cent over the previous fiscal year, and the per capita average income is 15 million kip.
Most of the projects invested by Vietnamese businesses involve agriculture and forestry, industry, handicraft, service, education, trade, construction, mining and telecommunication.
These include 2,448 small and medium enterprises totally worth 227 billion kip, which create over 44,400 jobs for the locals. (1USD=8,627 kip)
