Lao Women’s Union celebrates 53rd birthday
(KPL) Women in Laos celebrated the 53rd founding anniversary of the Lao Women’s Union by having a get-together at the Cultural Hall in Vientiane on 12 August.
President of the Lao Women’s Union (LWU), Ms. Sisay Leudetmounsone, President of the LWU in the Ministry of Information and Culture, Mrs. Anong Vongsa, and Deputy-Minister of Information and Culture, Dr Borsengkham Vongdara, were present at the meeting along with representatives from the Committee for the Progress of Women.
The meeting raised the significant contribution of Lao women in the cause of national defence against invading power in the past and the national construction of the country.
“Lao women had devoted their lives to safeguard and develop the nation,” said Mrs Anong.
Ms. Sisay and Dr Borsengkham spoke of the past achievements of the LWU and advised the Union to continue their work to build unity among its members and also to persist with the capacity building work.
