OZ - LXML Helps Prevent Flooding in Vientiane

(KPL) On 14th August 2008, the OZ LXML Sepon contributed financial assistance of 110 million kip to support the Vientiane Flooding and Drought Prevention Committee. OZ LXML Sepon’s Senior Advisor Dr. Somphavanh Inthavong handed over the donation to the Vientiane Flooding and Drought Prevention Committee at the Vientiane Administration Office, on behalf of the company. H. E. Somsavad Lengsavad, Standing Deputy Prime Minister, accepted the donation at the event attended by other government officials and OZ LXML senior managers.
According to the LXML, on the morning of August 14th, the OZ LXML also donated 5 million kip to help flood prevention by making a donation via the Department of Mining, Ministry of Energy and Mining. Prior to this donation, a financial assistance of 5 million kip had also been made to the Department for Promotion and Management of Domestic and Foreign Investment (DDFI) of the Ministry of Planning and Investment on August 13th.
Altogether the OZ LXML has provided financial support of 120 million kip toward the flood situation in Vientiane.
The Standing Deputy Prime Minister, H. E. Somsavat Lengsavad expressed sincere thanks to the OZ LXML in taking part in the flood prevention and said that the donation would be used to prevent future flooding in the city of Vientiane.
More than hundreds of family in the districts of Saythany and Hardsaifong have been severely affected by the flooding and many more families and animals at risk of flooding have been evacuated to higher ground. The OZ LXML management, together with its employees extended their concerns and sympathy to victims of the flood and hopes that their donation would help ease the hardship.
Financial donations and provisions of relief materials have been donated by many government authorities, international organisations, enterprises and individuals in Vientiane to help victims of the flood as well as preventing the flood from entering Vientiane.
