Luang Namtha develops tourism

(KPL) Luang Namtha is improving, beautifying and tapping its tourism potentials to attract more tourists in the near future.
In the first half of this year, the province has welcomed over 60,000 domestic and foreign tourists whose expenditure enabled the province to generate a sum of over 10 billion kip (US$ 1.7 million)
The head of the Tourism Service of Luang Namtha province, Mr. Khamlay Sipaseuth, said, “The province has 62 tourism sites, including 31 natural places, 11 cultural sites and 12 historical destinations.”
In general, each family engaged in tourism service, generates around 20 million kip a year.
Mr. Khamlai added “the province will continue to develop the tourist spots, improve the infrastructure for tourists in rural areas, contribute fund to develop the tourism places along R3 Road and improve the land-water and air tourism corridors with the northern provinces.”
The authorities of the northern provinces should promote the preservation of diverse tradition and culture of ethnic people to attract larger number of tourists, Mr. Khamlai suggested.
