One-door service system to be launched at border check-point
(KPL) The Ministry of Public Works and Transport in collaboration with the immigration authority organised last week a consultative meeting on the border transportation through a one-door service system. The meeting was held on August 21, at the Asia Development Bank Office in Vientiane. Mr Lattanamany Khounmanivong, Head of the Public Works and Transport, said to the press that the meeting concentrated on a number of issues including the services in border areas by using the one-door service system in order to facilitate the border transportation in the Sub-Mekong Region. The six countries in Sub-Mekong Region have discussed lessons from the international communities, and studied the real situation in Laos concerning the customs officers’ activities such as goods checking at border checkpoint. Laos, Vietnam and Thailand signed in 2006 an agreement to further their co-operation at border checkpoint through the one-door service.
