Makeover of Lao National Ground

(KPL) The Lao government would like the Lao National Ground to be the modern, spacious and really beautiful so that it is an appropriate site for the ceremony to commemorate the 450th anniversary of the foundation of Vientiane in 2010. Vietnam
Vietnam has agreed to contribute US$5 million to fund the construction to improve the Lao National Ground.
The Government had also decided to construct a monument for unknown soldiers and to build the Saysettha Public Park.
The ceremony for the three projects, held on 23 August was under the chairmanship of Standing Deputy Prime Minister Somsavat Lengsavad. Deputy Head of Vietnamese Military Headquarters, Brigadier General Nguyen Van Hoc also attended the event.
Mr Somsavad said the Lao National Ground must have good lighting , spotlights in appropriate places, public toilets, vehicle parks and public taps by January 2009.
The Saysettha Park, to be completed by October 2009,should have a pedestrian mall and a flower garden., said Standing Deputy Prime Minister.
The construction of the Unknown Soldier’s Monument is now partially completed and its scheduled completion date is January 2009.
The Lao government has allocated six billion kip for this project.
